🎯 MONOLITH. POLYGON. FIRST TESTS
After that, we took it to the range and tested grouping, stability, and system performance at long distances.
The ammunition was not prepared to standard specifications. Preparation was minimal: a zero-cycle case, minimal chamfering and basic case operations, no component selection, no standard tuning. The powder was loaded with 'green crocodile'.
With these parameters, the Monolith quickly reached its tuning point and responded predictably to changes.
Groups of 3 shots:
. 600 m — approximately 5.5 cm, roughly 0.32 MOA;
. 1000 m — approximately 5 cm, roughly 0.17 MOA;
. 2000 m — approximately 39 cm, roughly 0.67 MOA.
The barrel was not broken in before the trip. After approximately 50 rounds, there is virtually no copper fouling in the bore.
After extreme powder charges, the rifle maintained stability: the bolt group functions correctly, feeding is consistent, extraction is nominal, and grouping is very impressive given these conditions.
Not only our regular shooters were firing. Everyone noted the stability, predictability, smooth linear recoil, and good shot control.
With the muzzle brake, recoil is barely noticeable. In terms of feel — on par with the SPECTER in .338 LM, even though the MONOLITH operates in .375 CheyTac.
The weight of the bare rifle with a 34-inch barrel is 12.5 kg. The feel is only marginally heavier than the Specter. At the same time, the MONOLITH barrel is significantly more massive: 42 mm at the breech versus 34 mm on the SPECTER.
Special mention goes to the precision bolt group: exceptional smoothness and softness of travel, stable feeding, and positive lockup.
The main conclusion: after extreme powder charges, on an unbroken-in barrel and with minimally prepared ammunition, the MONOLITH retained its mechanics, stability, controllability, and accuracy.
This outing did not reveal the limit of the MONOLITH. It demonstrated the platform's baseline capability even with rough ammunition.
Next up — factory-prepared ammunition, fine tuning, and stability confirmation across a series.
