Happy Great Victory Day!

May 9 is a day of strength, remembrance, and the unyielding spirit of our people. A day when we recall the heroic feat of those who, at the cost of incredible effort and millions of lives, stopped the fascist scourge and defended our country's right to life and a future.

The Russian people have more than once stood in the way of those who came to us with a sword. And history has proven time and again: no matter how hard they try to break Russia — the enemy invariably meets resistance. Europe apparently has a longstanding tradition — every hundred years or so, marching against Russia and once again learning that our land knows how to defend itself.

Today we speak with special gratitude about our soldiers who stand guard over the Motherland, protect the country, and deliver a powerful rebuff to all the world's evil. Your courage, resilience, and devotion to duty carry on the legacy of the generation of Victors.

We remember the feat of our ancestors.
We are proud of the heroes of the present.
And we will not leave the enemy a single shred of hope.

The enemy will be defeated.
Victory will be ours.
