Happy Gunsmith's Day!

The holiday is celebrated annually on September 19. The date was chosen deliberately: it was in September that the Armory Chamber of the Moscow Kremlin — the main center for the production and storage of weapons of that era — was first mentioned in 16th-century sources. The day itself was established by a Decree of the President of Russia in 2011 "in recognition of the outstanding contribution of weapons makers to ensuring the defense and independence of the state."

Gunsmith's Day is a tribute to the centuries-old traditions of Russian weapons craftsmanship and a mark of respect for today's masters, engineers, and designers. Through their work, the country's military strength is built, uniting experience, technology, and responsibility.
